Prairieland Energy
Prairieland Energy Inc. (PEI), is an Illinois corporation founded in 1996 that is solely owned by the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois and functions as a university-related organization. PEI's primary mission is to provide energy commodities that support the reliable provision of energy services to the University of Illinois campuses while achieving an effective balance of cost efficiency, acceptable price volatility, and desired budget certainty. PEI provides electric, steam, and chilled water utility service to residential and commercial customers in non-university buildings on University of Illinois property.
Commercial customers
…work with an approved University of Illinois representative to make certain that the facilities necessary to receive service from PEI are installed. Once approved for utility service, the customer must request a service agreement from PEI, complete and return it to PEI. Upon receipt of the signed agreement, the approved University of Illinois representative oversees initiation of service and notifies PEI of the electric service start date and beginning meter read.
